Rebuild Southern Sudan Project
Objectives
To improve the lives of children living in Juba, Nasir, Malakal & Bor, Southern Sudan through supporting the following initiatives:
- To help the community provide their children improved access to education and medical care;
- To provide vocational training and improve income generation for local community members.
Location & Duration
The project is physically located in the Juba, Nasir, Malakal & Bor in Southern Sudan.
The duration of this project is five years.
Expected Outputs
- Vocational training provided to community
- Buildings constructed as required by community
- Income generated by sale of bricks to maintain the project
- Income generated by sale of bricks to provide income for workers
Situation expected at the end of the project
The community will be empowered to help provide the basic needs of their own children without the further intervention of outside organisations, such as DOHA.
Local Participation
Each of the four communities (Juba, Nasir, Malakal & Bor) will be required to provide one capable, responsible male to be trained in Juba with the machines. He will undergo training with the use of the machines and how to create bricks correctly. His accommodation and travel costs will be met by DOHA.
The machines will be transferred to the community once the training is complete. The male that was trained will become the supervisor of the project and will train 7 other men how to use the machines so that he may be assisted in making bricks.
In total, 8 men will be required to make the maximum number of bricks that can be produced in one day (8 hours: which is 1500 bricks.) Another man will be responsible for the sale of the bricks to raise the funds for purchasing materials, equipment as required, to continue producing bricks and buildings.
Therefore, a total of 9 men will be required in each area.
The machines and tools will become the property of the community. This means that schools, medical clinics and so on… need to be built in different villages by the community at large. This is not meant for one area but to be a tool to help rebuild different villages within the county area.
Monitoring
This project shall be monitored through a series of visits from DOHA representative during the 5 years. The monitoring is to ensure that the Brick machines are being used effectively, that the buildings are being established and that the different areas are receiving the same access to the machines.

Fiji
Currently, we are supporting the Pre School Teachers in Suva and Daku, however the growth of the Pre Schools has been fantastic and we expect to continually expand our areas of support.
Early Childhood education is essential to give children a foundation to progress well through Primary and Secondary Education, however more importantly at their tender age - focusing on skill development, hand-eye coordination and social interaction with one another - is necessary for children to reach their full potential.
With your help, we can support more teachers and enable more children to attend a quality Pre School that will give them a better start in life! It only costs $78 to support a teacher per month.

Sri Lanka
In Sri Lanka, we are currently supporting a boys home and a girls home in Valenchenai and we are building our third home, in Vavuniya.
The children in Sri Lanka have not had an easy life, over the past 40 years the nation has been in the midst of civil war and for many of these people - this is the first time they have known peace.
Due to the war, there are many orphaned and abandoned children who are left to roam the streets, begging out an existence. For the children in our care, they have been given a family, a home, a future!
All of the children in our homes attend Primary and/or Secondary School and their basic needs are taken care of, however more importantly than that, they are now in a place of security, sanctuary and love. The staff take very good care of these children and treat them as their very own children.
To allow the staff to care for these children in the best way possible, the numbers of the children is kept at a manageable level.
With your help, we will be able to employ more staff to care for these children and establish more homes, enabling more children to be rescued from the streets.

Uganda
Through our partnership with AAI African Action International; we support the Faith Nursery School in Uganda.
This School targets the children living in the surrounding community and offers basic education, meals, clean drinking water and shelter to many of the children and teenagers.
For $75.00 per month, we can support the cost of employing a Teacher at the School and maintenance of the clean drinking water supply.

We also sponsor a child in Uganda through Compassion Australia. 'Lucky' lives in a border community in South Western Uganda and sadly both of his parents have died. He lives with his foster parents and helps around the home and the farm when not at School.
